Proper footwork and timing while playing tennis can help avoid injuries to the hips, groin and upper extremities.

The first is Dr. Neeru Jayanthi, tennis medicine expert and director of LUHS’s Tennis Medicine Program, the first of its kind in the Midwest.

Many competitors, including junior competitors, are become much more aggressive with their strokes, especially the forehand stroke. Our concern with this evolution is that the player does not transfer their weight correctly, landing on only one leg. This can lead to hip and groin problems.
