Mr. Carey Pinkowski, Executive Director of Chicago Marathon to speak at Chamber

Mr. Carey Pinkowski, Executive Director of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon will be the guest speaker at the regular luncheon of the Willowbrook/Burr Ridge Chamber of Commerce and Industry starting at 11:30am Wednesday, August 1st at the Willowbrook Holiday Inn, 7800 South Kingery Highway, Willowbrook.Mr. Pinkowski is responsible for all facets of the race.  He works to recruit world-class athletes to compete for the $500,000 prize.  Under his leadership the marathon has produced three world records:  Morocco's Khalid Khannouchi (1999), Kenya's Catherine Ndereba (2001) and Great Britain's Paula Radcliff (2002).  He is responsible for designing the course and coordinating all of the logistics of the race with the city, state and federal agencies.Mr. Pinkowski has received numerous awards and is a member of the Indiana Athletic Hall of Fame and the Running USA Hall of Fame Champions.  He serves on the board for the National Distance Running Hall of Fame and is a member of USA Track & Field Men's Long Distance Running Executive Committee.Mr. Pinkowski resides in Elmhurst with his wife, Susan, and his two children, Sarah and Matthew.Area business interested in joining the Chamber are welcome to attend a complimentary luncheon.  Call the Chamber office at (630) 654-0909 to schedule a luncheon date.Advance reservations for Chamber members should be made by noon, Tuesday, July 31.  The cost of the luncheon is $20 in advance for members, $25 at the door for members and non-members.
