Burr Ridge 180 Gets New Superintendent

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge School District 180 is getting a new superintendent next month.

Charlie Kyle is set to start July 1. He is now the assistant superintendent of administrative services for Wheaton-based School District 200.

In that role, he oversees the district's two high schools and fine and performing arts. He is also the district's safety officer.

In Burr Ridge, Kyle received a three-year contract for a salary of $190,000 a year. His pay is considerably lower than what the current superintendent makes.

According to a District 180 news release, Kyle comes with 27 years of leadership experience in education.

Kyle received his bachelor's degree in secondary education from Augustana College and his doctorate from Northern Illinois University.

The current superintendent, Thomas Schneider, makes $299,495 a year. His last raise was $16,000.

The district's latest enrollment is 445. At that level, Schneider's salary works out to about $675 per student. That compares to $30 in Elmhurst School District 205, where the $250,000-a-year superintendent is in charge of more than 8,000 students.

Last year, Patch compared Schneider's pay to superintendents in the area. His was the highest.

Schneider is among the longest-serving superintendents, at 17 years.
