Burr Ridge-Area Districts To Close Wednesday
The districts plan remote learning in place of in-person education.
BURR RIDGE, IL – Old-fashioned snow days are apparently a thing of the past for two Burr Ridge-area school districts, School District 180 and Gower School District 62.
They are closing their schools Wednesday because of snow expected overnight. But they are continuing with remote learning, as happened for many schools earlier in the pandemic.
“Forecasts are not perfect, but they do give us good reason to take action and shift to a remote setting that we have practiced and works to prevent unsafe travel to and from school as this hazardous weather event passes,” District 62 said in a statement.

District 180 said the advantage with remote learning was that the district did not need to make up for the snow day.
“We hope that by working together, we can safely get through the rest of the winter season and look forward to warmer weather,” District 180 said in its statement.
