Burr Ridge Area Plagued With Water Issues To Get Help

The village is poised to hire an engineering firm to find a way to fix the problem.

BURR RIDGE, IL – A Burr Ridge neighborhood plagued with water main breaks is expected to get help from the village.

The area in question is along 62nd Street and Cove Creek Court, between Garfield Avenue and Elm Street.

Over the last two years, the area has experienced 16 main breaks, with 10 in just the last six months, according to a village memo.

The village said an iron pipe has likely been damaged by "corrosive" soil conditions. The situation has resulted in costly leaks and inconvenient water service disruptions, the memo said.

On Monday, the Village Board is set to vote on spending $55,000 with Thomas Engineering Group.

The village requested a proposal from the firm, which has designed and built other water main improvements in the community, the memo said.
