Burr Ridge Area Shooting Suspect Jailed
The man fired a shot and then barricaded himself from officers, authorities said.

BURR RIDGE, IL – A man was ordered jailed until his trial after he was accused of firing a gun and then barricading himself from police near Burr Ridge, authorities said Wednesday.
On Monday morning, Michael Vasta, 39, fired a shot in the parking lot of his apartment complex, Kingery Quarter, which is southwest of Burr Ridge, the DuPage County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Sheriff's deputies pleaded with Vasta to leave the apartment and surrender peacefully, but he ignored the commands, the sheriff's office said.

After a couple of hours, the man released a woman and a child from his apartment and then barricaded himself again, according to the news release.
A multi-agency SWAT team was assembled and arrested Vasta without any use of force, authorities said. He was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm.

On Wednesday, a DuPage County judge denied Vasta's request to be released before his trial, the sheriff's office said. He is in the DuPage County Jail.
The apartment complex is southeast of 91st Street and Clarendon Hills Road.
