Burr Ridge Attempted Carjacking Yields Arrest: Police

BURR RIDGE, IL — An East Hazel Crest man is accused in an attempted carjacking Wednesday near Burr Ridge's Village Center, police said in a news release.

Shortly after 5 p.m., two men attempted to steal a car, then ran away after being unable to get the car in gear, police said. The victim told police he was attempting to sell his car through an online advertisement when he was contacted, allegedly by one of the suspects, to meet at a central location with the vehicle, according to the news release.

Officers found one of the men, identified as Rodney J. Marshall Jr., 18, hiding behind a nearby bush, police said. He matched the description given by the victim. Police said they found a loaded gun near where Marshall was hiding. The second suspect was not found.

Marshall was charged with attempted vehicular hijacking, a felony. Charges were reviewed and approved by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, police said.
