Burr Ridge Close To Selling Village Hall
The planned preschool must come before the zoning board first.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge trustees are expected to vote Monday on an agreement to sell Village Hall to a preschool chain.
Last fall, the village received two $2.7 million offers from preschool companies for Village Hall. Burr Ridge plans to build an addition to the police station for a new Village Hall.
Originally, both firms required the village to cover a 5 percent brokerage fee, amounting to $135,000. That meant the village's net income would be $2,565,000.

But at the last minute, Goddard dropped the fee. And the chain offered to pay $135,000 in earnest money, compared to Primrose Schools' $35,000.
As a result, trustees favored Goddard.

Under the agreement, the company would get 120 days to complete the zoning process, with the option for two 30-day extensions.
The agreement clarifies that Burr Ridge makes no promises on zoning, a process that it controls. But it is unlikely that the village's own zoning panel would stand in the way of officials' desire for a new Village Hall.
The contract also makes clear that the veterans memorial next to Village Hall would remain the village's property.
The police station's addition is expected to cost $5.8 million. The village plans to pay for it with the sale proceeds and money in its bank accounts.
Burr Ridge is a rare town with no debt.
The goal is to start using the new Village Hall in May 2027. In the interim, employees plan to use the public works department's offices.
