BURR RIDGE, IL – The Burr Ridge Village Board on Monday denied a resident's request for a front-yard sports court.

The court was proposed for the house at 6500 S. Elm St. In 2017, the Rante family bought the nearly 5-acre property for $2.5 million, then demolished the house and replaced it. The house is at a distance from the street.

In June, the village's Plan Commission recommended against resident John Rante's request for a multipurpose sports court. The commission stated the property had no unique circumstance that required the court to be in the front yard. If Rante's request were approved, other properties with large front yards could make a similar request, the commission said.
