Burr Ridge Engagement Party Draws Complaints: Police
Complaints were about noise and social distancing, police say.
BURR RIDGE, IL — An engagement party in Burr Ridge may have been fun, but neighbors were apparently not as happy. Police were called a number of times to a party last Saturday in the 8600 block of Wedgewood Drive.
The first call was even before the party started. Mid-afternoon, police received a complaint about loud noise. The resident responded that he was testing the music for a later engagement party, but that he would turn it down. He said he would apologize to the neighbors and that he would give his number, so they could call him directly if the music became too loud again, according to a police report.
About four hours later, police were called again to the same block because a caller said there was a party with more than 100 people, in violation of the governor's executive order on social distancing, the report said. The party was set up outside, with tables spaced over 6 feet part, similar to outdoor dining areas at restaurants, police said.

About 8 p.m., the police received another complaint about loud music at the party. But an officer said in the report the music did not seem excessive. Yet another call came about 11 p.m. The homeowner agreed to lower the volume.
It was unclear whether all the complaints came from the same neighbor.
