Burr Ridge Health Metrics 'Remain Favorable,' Mayor Says
Eight cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Burr Ridge in the past two weeks.
Monday June 8, 2020
The Village’s COVID-19 case remained level at 90 today. We have seen just 8 reported cases over the last two weeks. Over one million total COVID tests have been administered in the State, while testing is now available to anyone regardless of symptoms. A DuPage County-based free testing center is scheduled to open this week on the grounds of Anne M. Jeans Elementary School on 91st Street west of Route 83.

I participated on the DuPage Board of Health call today with many DuPage mayors. The BOH reported that the positivity rate in DuPage County is now under 5% - remember that part of the standard of moving to Phases 3 and 4 was being at 20%. The BOH also noted that 14 days could be acceptable between Phase 3 and 4 for certain industries, depending on the health metrics. Those metrics appears to support a 14-day interval between Phase 3 and 4 for restaurants. I base my belief upon a CDC guideline report from May 2020, which couches risk rather vaguely between indoor and outdoor dining. I believe that if we keep the number of tables down, employ social distancing of tables and patrons, mask the servers, and keep the outdoor air flowing with the use of fans, we can have a safe and successful indoor dining experience. I will be interested if the residents and restaurants would be in favor of opening with limited indoor dining and ahead of the official date to move to Phase 4.
There will be a Village Board meeting tonight at 7:00 pm. Please feel free to call in regarding specific items by dialing (630) 850-7222. I will be in the Board Room with Village Administrator Doug Pollock, Assistant Administrator Evan Walter and Chief John Madden.

If any Burr Ridge residents could not drive by the Village Hall yesterday to get free masks, call the Village Hall this week (630-654-8181) to arrange pickup. We still have plenty of masks, while we will have at least one more mask giveaway event before too long.
There will be a Stormwater Meeting tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm. The sole agenda item will be the 63rd Street-Elm Street culvert. Effected residents should try to call in to be heard.
After many weeks of diligent communication, I plan to move the Mayor Messages to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and from there on a periodic basis once we enter Phase 4. If urgent news or developments occur, we will use this and all other platforms to keep you apprised of what is happening.
