Burr Ridge Honors Egyptian Residents
Local Egyptian community is part of the "rich tapestry of cultures," the village says.

BURR RIDGE, IL – The Burr Ridge Village Board plans to vote Monday on adopting a resolution marking the National Day of Egypt.
July 23, 1952, was when the leaders of the Egyptian Revolution cast off British colonialism.
Burr Ridge has an Egyptian community. The village is the home of St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church, 15W455 79th St., which holds a Taste of Egypt Festival. Coptic Christians mostly come from Egypt.

According to the proposed resolution, the relationship between Burr Ridge and its Egyptian residents is "highly valued."
The resolution calls on residents to maintain an understanding of Egyptian members of the community and the importance of the "rich tapestry of cultures" that makes Burr Ridge a "Very Special Place," which is the village's motto.
