BURR RIDGE, IL — Committing theft next to the police station is not a good move. So perhaps a Burr Ridge resident last Saturday was just confused.

According to a police report, the man was seen removing ice melt from bins at 4 p.m. at the west and south entrances of Village Hall, 7700 County Line Road, a complex that includes the police department.

Questioned by an officer, the man said the mayor put out something a few years ago about free ice melt from the village, the report said. The officer said he told the man that public works used the ice melt in the bins for Village Hall sidewalks.
