Burr Ridge Man And Landscaper In Dispute, So Both Call Police

Landscaper says he was shorted money, while resident contends landscaper purposely caused damage.

BURR RIDGE, IL — A Burr Ridge resident is finding himself at odds with his landscaper, with both calling police at different times.

On July 17, the landscaper informed police that he was not paid in full for work that a resident hired him to do in the 9200 block of Fallingwater Drive, according to a Burr Ridge police report. The landscaper told police he was only paid $500 for a $1,200 job, but acknowledged there was no contract for the work.

According to the report, the resident said he would only pay if the work was done to his standard. Police said the landscaper would have to take up the matter in civil court.

Two days later, the homeowner reported a damaged front window. He believed his landscaper had done it on purpose. After checking the area, an officer determined that one of the branches from a tree fell and hit the window while the landscaper was trimming. The officer said he could find no evidence of a criminal act. He advised the homeowner to seek payment for the damage or take the landscaper to civil court.
