BURR RIDGE, IL – The Burr Ridge Village Board is set to vote Monday on loosening regulations for work trucks. The rules have been described as "nitpicky."

What appeared to trigger the proposed changes is a family's objection to the village's attempt to ban them from parking a truck with a toolbox outside their house.

At the time, then-village Trustee Zach Mottl suggested the village fix "ridiculous, nitpicky ordinances" that are used "against hard-working residents like those folks who are just trying to do their jobs and not cause a problem."

Trustee Guy Franzese also called for possible changes, saying the trucks in question have become more commonplace.

Recently, the Plan Commission recommended the village eliminate the language banning outside parking of trucks with toolboxes, racks and lockers in residential neighborhoods. This would not apply to racks with luggage or recreational equipment.

During public hearings, a few residents requested the village also end its residential prohibition of outside parking of vans without windows and seats behind the driver and front passenger. The Plan Commission was divided on that issue.
