Burr Ridge Mayor Endorses In Sheriff's Race
He said he announced his public support because of another candidate's problems.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso on Friday endorsed Sean Noonan in the March 17 Republican primary for DuPage County sheriff.
Grasso and Noonan served together on the DuPage County Board. Grasso is now running unopposed in the GOP primary for DuPage County Board chairman.
"I quietly supported Officer Noonan, with whom I served on the DuPage County Board, from the day he announced, but believed as the Republican candidate for DuPage County Board Chairman that I should publicly be neutral in the primary race for Sheriff," Grasso said in an email to Patch. "However, recent developments have caused me to decide to announce my public support for Sean Noonan for Sheriff."

Grasso noted that two prominent Republican DuPage County officials pulled their endorsements of Noonan's opponent, Undersheriff Eddie Moore. The mayor was referring to State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Cindy Cronin Cahill, a County Board member from Elmhurst.
This week, Moore was placed on administrative leave because of an investigation into a recent crash that occurred outside an Oak Brook restaurant, according to the Daily Herald.
