Burr Ridge Nursing Home Worker Faces Felony Charges
Woman arrested after being charged with aggravated battery.
BURR RIDGE, IL — A Lisle woman is facing felony charges in connection with the alleged abuse of a resident in Brookdale Burr Ridge nursing home. The woman was identified as Devette Cobbs, 54, who was arrested Tuesday.
According to a police report, Cobbs, a caregiver at Brookdale, was seen by two housekeepers punching and slapping at resident. Cobbs was initially arrested, but was released without charges at the request of the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. Prosecutors wanted video interviews of the witnesses.
After an investigation, Cobbs was charged with two counts of aggravated battery of someone older than 60. Burr Ridge police said they were withholding more details because Cobbs' court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 21 in Wheaton.
