Burr Ridge Official Defends Gaza Resolution
The mayor noted the village condemned Hamas in the document.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso on Monday defended the village's resolution calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Some are asking whether the resolution condemns Hamas in its resolution, Grasso said. The village did, as the mayor pointed out.
Grasso noted the resolution's first sentence addressed Hamas: "(W)e the corporate authorities of the Village of Burr Ridge, Illinois, mourn all those innocent and unarmed Israeli and U.S. citizens and others massacred during Hamas' heinous terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, near the Gaza-Israeli border."

Those asking questions about the resolution "obviously" haven't read it, the mayor said.
"I think we called (Hamas) out on it and labeled it appropriately so," Grasso said at the Village Board's meeting. "I'd ask people to read the resolution and then ask any questions you have about it."

He asked Burr Ridge staff to keep the resolution in a prominent position on the village's website, so people can easily access the wording.
