BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso is proposing the creation of an ad hoc committee to handle issues related to the CNH Industrial property.

The owner is seeking a buyer for the property at 6900 Veterans Boulevard.

No formal proposal has been presented, but one potential developer wants to include Costco in the plan.

Even in the early stages, the village has encountered controversy with the prospect of a Costco, which neighbors oppose.

Earlier this month, Patch revealed emails from Village Administrator Evan Walter in which he said Costco must be a part of any development.

Also, an email to Patch in April showed Walter denying any knowledge of the possibility of a Costco on the CNH site, even though he repeatedly emailed a Costco representative for months about just that.

On Monday, the Village Board plans to vote on Grasso's proposal for an ad hoc committee on the 110-acre CNH site.

According to a village memo, the mayor-appointed committee would be made up mainly of Burr Ridge residents.

The committee's job would be to gather local perspectives on the appropriate development of the site, the village said.

The memo said the committee would be subject to the state's open meetings law, meaning agendas and minutes would be made available to the public.

The Village Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Village Hall.
