Burr Ridge Police Official Retiring

Officer is leaving after nearly a quarter century with the police department.

BURR RIDGE, IL — A longtime Burr Ridge police officer is retiring after nearly a quarter century of service. Sgt. Michael Barnes, who started in 1996, was recognized during Monday's Village Board meeting.

During his time at the police department, Barnes has been a Citizens Police Academy instructor, a field training officer, an evidence technician, a DARE officer and a firearms instructor, among other things, according to a Village Board resolution. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant five years ago.

The board's resolution said Barnes will hold a place of "high esteem in the minds and hearts of residents and employees of the village."
