Burr Ridge Project To Stop Flooding: Village
Besides Burr Ridge, the water comes in from towns such as Darien.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge plans to work on a $1 million drainage project this summer near Elm Elementary School.
The flooding is the result of water going to the deteriorating Elm Street culvert from several towns, an official said.
"It's not just our neighborhoods, but it really does convey 3.7 square miles of watershed, spanning back to Darien, Willowbrook and Clarendon Hills, all coming back to that point on Elm Street," Burr Ridge's public works director, David Preissig, told the Village Board on Monday. "That's a huge area that really is draining through that small metal pipe."

A few times a year, Elm Street floods, sometimes requiring street closures, Preissig said.
The village has received $785,000 from the federal government and $50,000 from DuPage County for the project.

The low bidder was Aurora-based Abbey Co., coming in at $939,000. That was much lower than Alliance Contractors' $1.7 million.
The Village Board awarded the contract to Abbey. It was the same day that the firm won a contract for a municipal parking lot in La Grange.
Burr Ridge's portion of the project is $204,000.
Officials expect the work to be substantially completed by the time Elm Elementary School students return in August.
