Burr Ridge Resident, Patricia Jahn Chicago Rotary "Woman of the Year”

The Rotary Club of Chicago’s first annual, "Chicago Woman of the Year" will honor women for their contributions toward peace in our community, a local resident is among those honored.

Patrica Jahn, will be honored for her dedicated service with The Chicago 502, which gives financial and support services to families and soldiers of the 502 Airborne Infantry Regiment.  

As a stay-at-home mom, Jahn has had the opportunity to work with organizations such as Boy Scouts of America, League of Women Voters, and other charitable, school, and social groups, almost all of which she served in a leadership capacity.   She has been involved with the Union League Club Civics & Art Foundation, and the Chicago Engineers’ Foundation as well as the Chicago 502.  

The Chicago 502 is an organization which provides support for the men and women in the 502nd Brigade of the 101st Airborne.  Jahn and her husband, Martin, have both served on the board of the Chicago 502 and were instrumental in initiating the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund.  Jahn started a program in 2006 which provides quilts for the men and women of the 502d who were injured in battle or for the families of fallen soldiers.   Partnering with the Centennial Quilt Guild of LaGrange, more than 250 quilts have been delivered to the 502d.

Additionally, Jahn makes quilts for women’s shelters, nursing homes, Sherman Hospital and Habitat for Humanity.  


Attorney General Lisa Madigan, the first woman elected to this office in Illinois, will be honored for her work on behalf of women who are victims of violent crimes.

 Victoria Brander, MD, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialists and partner with Northwestern Orthopedic Institute, will be honored for her work as Co-Founder of Operation Walk USA, which provides free hip and knee replacements for patients in under-served communities. 

Diane Primo, CEO, IntraLink Global, will give the keynote address. Ms. Primo has led some of the top product marketing organizations in the country, including Ameritech, SBC, CDW, and Quaker Oats. She also focuses on the issue of homelessness in America and raises funds for the Primo Center for Women & Children, a homeless shelter on Chicago’s West Side.


The event will be held on Tuesday, June 11th, from 11:30 am to 1:30pm, in the Main Lounge of the Union League Club of Chicago, 65 W. Jackson Boulevard, home to one of Chicago’s largest private art collections.  The Main Lounge features many of the club’s most exquisite paintings.

The Rotary Club of Chicago, the nation's oldest service club, has been a champion of “Peace Through Service” in the Chicago community, and has been instrumental in Rotary International's successful efforts to eradicate polio in the world.
