Burr Ridge resident wins national title at the Spring North American Bridge Championships

Ralph Katz of Burr Ridge, Ill., claimed victory in the Vanderbilt Knockout Teams event at the Spring North American Bridge Championships

Ralph Katz of Burr Ridge, Ill., claimed victory in the Vanderbilt Knockout Teams event at the Spring North American Bridge Championships (NABC), one of the 15 championship-level events held in Kansas City, Mo., March 9 to 19.

This is Katz’s 43rd first-place NABC title. 2017 ACBL President Bob Heller (center) presented the trophy to members of the team, pictured left to right, which include Jeff Meckstroth of Clearwater, Fla., Steve Weinstein of Andes, N.Y., Captain Frank Nickell of New York, N.Y., Coach Eric Kokish of Montreal, Canada, Katz, Robert Levin of Henderson, Nev., and Eric Rodwell of Clearwater, Fla.

The NABCs are held three times a year across the U.S. and Canada to bring together players of all skill levels, from beginner to expert, with opportunities for everyone to play daily from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The 2017 Summer NABC will be held in Toronto, Ontario, from July 20 to 30.
