Man Dies In Burr Ridge Workplace Shooting, Woman Wounded: Police

Police said the suspected gunman shot two coworkers, one fatally, at a business before fleeing and taking his own life.

BURR RIDGE, IL – A man died in a workplace shooting and a woman was wounded Tuesday afternoon in Burr Ridge, police said. The shooting suspect later took his own life, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 3 p.m. Tuesday near 15W475 S. Frontage Road.

Police said a man shot two co-workers at a business. A man died, while a woman was taken to the hospital. The village plans to identify the victims after it notifies next of kin.

The suspect fled about a mile and a half to the 7900 block of South Madison Street, where officers found him, Police Chief John Madden said at a news conference. The suspect shot himself, taking his own life, the chief said. The police did not release the suspect's name.

"There is no longer a threat to the community," Madden said.

Madden said he did not have the name of the business, saying multiple companies are in the location. He also said he didn't have the woman's medical status.
