Chicago Marathon: 40 Burr Ridge Runners Finish Race

Michael Thiel, 51, and Rita Thiel, 49, were the top male and female runners that hailed from Burr Ridge.

About 45,000 runners from every U.S. state and 115 countries participated in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Sunday. 

Ethiopian Tsegaye Kebede had the top finish in the marathon at 2:04:38, breaking the course record set last year by Kenya's Moses Mosop, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

Of the 51 Burr Ridge residents that participated Sunday, 40 finished the race, and a pair of Thiels had the best finishes among their respective genders.

The top male finisher was Michael Thiel, 51, who crossed the line at 3:23:47. The fastest female was 49-year-old Rita Thiel at 3:52:03.
