Food insecurity affects many hard-working families. 
There are many children whose main meals are served at school. What happens to these children on weekends?&nbsp;
Boxes of Hope helps fill the gap by providing food boxes for students to take home!&nbsp;
 Through the help of volunteers, Boxes of Hope packs and delivers food boxes to local schools, where they are distributed anonymously to children in need. 
Each box is put together to cover a full weekend of meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for every child in the household. 
While the program primarily supports children facing food insecurity, Boxes of Hope has also stepped in to assist families during times of unexpected need, such as a family crisis, fire, or other emergency.&nbsp;
Boxes of Hope is an example of how simple acts, done consistently, can make a difference!
As this month's Non-Profit&nbsp;Hero award recipient, Sterk Family Law Group, PC&nbsp;presented Boxes of Hope with a generous donation to help them continue their good work and featured the organization on their popular Spotify podcast hosted by attorney and #1 legal book author, Gwendolyn Sterk.

 Lotus Design and Development will host a community town hall meeting on Tuesday, April 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Hughie McClafferty’s, 118 Stephen Street, Lemont, IL 60439, to share additional details and answer questions regarding its proposed residential development at the intersection of Archer Avenue and Bell Road. 
The proposed development, known as Belmont of Lemont, is planned as a thoughtfully designed, multi-family residential community. The project has evolved through ongoing review and community feedback, with updated plans reflecting refinements to layout, density and overall site design. 
The community town hall will provide residents with an opportunity to meet directly with the development team, review updated plans and ask questions about the project.

A Multigenerational Approach to Community Living 
Belmont of Lemont is designed to support a multigenerational housing model, offering a mix of residences for a range of residents; from young professionals and empty nesters to extended families seeking proximity and connection. 
The development is designed to feel more like a neighborhood than a traditional apartment complex, with a cottage-style layout, smaller-scale buildings and integrated green space. The intent is to create a residential environment that fits with the surrounding area while introducing additional housing options that are currently limited in the local market. 
By expanding housing diversity, the development aims to: 
<ul><li>Provide options for long-term residents looking to downsize without leaving Lemont </li></ul>
<ul><li>Offer attainable housing opportunities for younger residents and the local workforce </li></ul>
<ul><li>Support families seeking nearby, independent living arrangements for aging relatives </li></ul>
A Proven Approach in Lemont 
Lotus Design and Development, led by Rob Abbinante, has completed projects in Lemont that reflect a focus on quality, long-term value and compatibility with the surrounding community. 
Previous work includes the preservation and residential conversion of the historic St. James Academy, originally built in 1883, as well as the development of Marbella of Lemont, a mixed-use building located near the downtown and Metra station. 
These projects have added residential opportunities, supported nearby businesses and contributed to the continued activity and growth of Lemont’s downtown area. 
Responding to Community Input 
Lotus Design and Development acknowledges that some residents have raised questions related to traffic, compatibility and density. 
The development team has revised the site plan based on feedback and will continue working with the Village of Lemont and the community as the review process continues. 
A Strategic Investment in Lemont 
Located along a key corridor, the Belmont of Lemont development represents an opportunity to bring new housing to the area while supporting long-term growth. 
In addition to expanding housing options, the project is expected to:

Take a step toward hope, healing, and mental wellness at this one-mile Color Walk, raising funds to expand equitable access to life-changing mental health services for children, young adults, and families in our community.
We’re honored to feature guest speaker <a href="https://www.themaleyway.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jim Maley of The Maley Way</a>, who will share a powerful message of resilience, connection, and the importance of mental health support.
Before we step off, enjoy a health expo featuring local wellness vendors and a colorful opening ceremony. Stay for a post-walk celebration with food trucks, music, games, and more!
