Coyotes Pursue Woman in Burr Ridge: Cops

The woman was walking in a park when the incident happened, police say.

BURR RIDGE, IL — A woman told police she was walking her pit bull about 11 a.m. Jan. 22 in Stevens Park when two coyotes aggressively pursued her and the dog, according to a police report. She said the coyotes eventually retreated to the northeast. The park is on Walredon Avenue.

Coyotes have become a big issue in Burr Ridge lately. A woman on Forest Hill Road has received two tickets for ground-feeding of wildlife, with her neighbors saying she is trying to attract a pack of coyotes.

  • A customer at BMO Harris Bank wired $65,193 to Lithuania on Dec. 16, but he said his company abroad had not received it. The bank confirmed the wire was sent. He made the report Jan. 22.
  • About 4:30 p.m. Jan. 22, a police officer was asked to discuss with a woman's daughter about the legal and health consequences of vaping.
  • Police were called shortly after midnight Jan. 23 to Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, 510 Village Center Drive, about a possible DUI driver. Four women had left in two cars after a night of drinking — a white Lexus and a white and blue SUV. An officer checked the area, but could not find the women.
  • About 6 a.m. Jan. 23, a repo agent spoke with police about a planned repossession of a 2016 Lexus in the 400 block of Devon Drive. Shortly before 8 a.m., a woman from the same block called police and said she suspected that her husband had taken her car. The officer said the car had been repossessed and that she needed to call the dealer about why it was taken.
  • A stolen car was reported to be in a parking lot in the 8000 block of Madison Street about 11 a.m. Jan. 23. An officer spoke with someone associated with the car. The person said he borrowed the car from a friend and did not know it was stolen.
  • A woman reported about 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 that she lost her purse the previous day. She seemed confused when asked what was in the purse and was unable to answer specific questions. An officer verified that her credit cards were not used. When the officer tried to enter the woman's driver's license as lost in a law enforcement database, he found it already had been entered as such in 2019. She apologized, saying she must have forgotten.
  • Police were called shortly before 11 p.m. Jan. 23 about a domestic battery incident at Extended Stay America, 122 S. Frontage Road. Two people said they got into an argument over one of them drinking. Both threw water on each other and one of them had a minor cut on his ear, which he said was accidentally caused by her nails.
