'Defaming' Photos, Car Theft: Burr Ridge Blotter

Woman says photos would reflect poorly on her family, police say.

BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge police have responded to a variety of calls in recent days, including a car theft and a woman worried about "defaming" photos. Here is information from the Burr Ridge Police Department's latest blotter:

  • A resident asked whether police officers could take his daughter's phone away from her when she was released from the hospital Dec. 23. An officer told the man the police would not take away the phone and that he would have to do that since he is the phone's owner.
  • A black 2018 Acura MDX was stolen from a garage between 6:30 p.m. Dec. 23 and 2:15 a.m. Dec. 24 on 87th Street. The report was made shortly after 8 a.m. Dec. 24. When an officer was checking the area, he noticed burglaries of a 2015 Jeep, a 2016 GMC and a 2016 Nissan. On Devon Drive, the same officer also found a 2020 Jeep burglarized.
  • A woman reported shortly after 10 p.m. Dec. 24 that someone posted "defaming" photos of her on Instagram. In the photos of her, she bares her abdomen, which she said would reflect poorly on her family because of their religious beliefs. The woman was given advice on possible civil remedies.
  • A man reported that a black SUV struck his 1995 Ford shortly before midnight Dec. 24 in the 700 block of 83rd Street. Police recovered parts to a 2016 Jeep. Alex Stanciu was cited for multiple violations of the state vehicle code as a result of the hit-and-run crash.
  • Police responded to an incident in which a woman playing a game of charades fell backward and hit her head shortly before midnight Dec. 24 in a house on Madison Street. EMTs treated her and she signed a refusal to go to the hospital.

Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
