Drive-Thru Dispute, Hovering Drone: Burr Ridge Cops

A driver in the McDonald's drive-thru refused to move, prompting a police response.

BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge police have responded to a variety of calls in recent days, including those involving a dispute at a drive-thru and a mysterious drone. Here is information from the latest police reports:

  • A driver refused to move from the drive-thru at McDonald's, 9101 Route 83, about 3 p.m. May 8. He said he would not move because his food was not ready. The manager then declined to serve him because the man would not move. The driver said he would agree to move if the manager provided him with a canceled receipt, which the manager did. The man then left without any more problems.
  • A resident in the 11500 block of German Church Road told police a white and red drone was flying over his house for several minutes and left in a northwest direction about 7 p.m. May 8. Two officers checked the area, but were unable to find the drone or its operator. The resident said he just wanted police to be aware of the incident.
  • A caller informed police that multiple cars were gathered and blocking traffic at Woodside Lane and Briarwood Lane about 11 a.m. May 8. An officer found multiple cars lined up for a parade, but they were not blocking traffic.
  • A resident informed police May 8 that she exchanged text messages and a phone call with her ex-boyfriend. She has an emergency order of protection against him, but he has not been served with that order. She was worried her ex-boyfriend may know where she is.
  • Police answered a call May 9 in the 900 block of Prairie Ridge Court, where a resident complained that a neighbor was constantly burning things and causing her house to smell like smoke. The fire, the resident said, was coming from the 8600 block of Meadowbrook Court. The information was forwarded to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. The Burr Ridge police were assisting the sheriff on the call.

Damage

  • A driver said he believed someone struck his parked 2015 Chevrolet on May 9 in a parking lot at 100 Burr Ridge Parkway. Security camera footage showed that no cars or objects damaged the car.
  • An officer on patrol saw a heavily damaged mailbox and car parts strewn about the roadway about 3:30 a.m. May 10 in the 15W700 block of 87th Street. Through the parts and surveillance footage, the officer determined the car was a 2008 to 2012 silver Ford Escape.

  • Police received a report of a stray dog, identified as a miniature schnauzer, running around about 2:30 p.m. May 11 in the 7300 block of Giddings Avenue.
  • An officer was unable to find a large German shepherd running loose in the area of 15W100 block of South Frontage Road about 7:30 p.m. May 11.
