Eddie Merlot's Opens Doors in Burr Ridge

New restaurant, which opened Nov. 15, serves up steaks, seafood and more.

Village leaders praised the food and décor at Eddie Merlot’s, calling it an excellent steakhouse.

Burr Ridge’s newest steakhouse opened its doors Nov. 15 and area residents are taking notice, said Steve Singleton, general manager of the restaurant. Singleton said the restaurant has seen a steady stream of customers since the doors opened.

“Word of mouth has captured the area and it seems like the surrounding neighborhoods, the people are interested in what we have,” Singleton said.

Eddie Merlot’s, an upscale steakhouse, took over the space previously occupied by Max and Erma’s.

Prior to opening to the general public, the Eddie Merlot staff invited area dignitaries and business leaders to a series of practice dinners that allowed the kitchen and serving staff to hone their skills, Singleton said.

Members of the Burr Ridge Board of Trustees were among those invited to the practice dinners. Both Mayor Gary Grasso and Trustee Bob Grela touted the staff and offerings of the establishment, saying it will be a perfect fit in the Burr Ridge community.

Village Administrator Steve Stricker said the village looked for another family-friendly restaurant to replace Max and Erma’s. While Eddie Merlot’s is more upscale than Max and Emma’s, Stricker said it will be good for Burr Ridge.

Restaurant goers will find that Eddie Merlot’s is more than a traditional steakhouse, Singleton said.

“We’ve got a great menu with a variety of dishes and an extensive selection of wine,” he said.

The Burr Ridge restaurant is the only Eddie Merlot’s site in Illinois. Other restaurants are located in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

The restaurant will be closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
