Employee Dispute, Domestics: Burr Ridge Police
Trucker refuses to give back truck to boss until he is paid, report says.
BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police have handled cases involving domestic disturbances, thefts and a dormant deer, among others. Here is information from the police reports:
Business dispute
- An employee of Nice Country Trans, 16W475 S. Frontage Road, was refusing on Aug. 29 to return a semi-truck back to the company. An officer spoke with the employee, who said he wanted to be paid before returning the truck. The officer said it was a civil matter and that if the employee did not want to return the truck, he should seek a lawyer's advice.

- A resident in the 8400 block of Park Avenue told police that she and her ex-husband had an argument while she was cleaning out the house that they are selling. She was concerned because he had a gun in his pocket and had been drinking. She wanted to know how to arrange a police standby in the future. An officer gave her information on how to request a standby. The officer said she should contact their respective lawyers to schedule times.
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 11 a.m. Aug. 28 in the 8100 block of Lake Ridge Drive. Police did not have enough evidence to make an arrest.
- A woman staying at the Extended Stay America hotel called police Aug. 29 to say that she and her boyfriend had been arguing the previous night and that he locked her out of the hotel room. He is not allowing her to get her belongings. The man told police that he was out of town and would return her items when he was back. An officer advised the man to set up an appointment for her to pick up her belongings and have the police stand by when this happens.
Theft
- A 2002 Jeep and a 2007 Jeep were burglarized between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sept. 1 at SpringHill Suites, 15W090 N. Frontage Road. Rear passenger windows were broken in both vehicles. A weighted workout vest was stolen from one, and a bag of notebooks and work paperwork was taken from the other.
- A Google Chromecast was stolen from a mailbox between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 1 in the 6400 block of Saint James Court.
- A resident on Fox Lane told police Aug. 28 that a metal pole with a "no trespassing" sign was stolen from her property between June 27 and July 24. She said she has had issues in the past with youths coming onto the forested part of her property.

- A wallet containing a Lyons Township High School identification and various cards was found Aug. 31 in a mailbox in the 7100 block of Fair Elms Boulevard. An officer contacted the owner, who said he must have dropped the wallet while visiting his nearby girlfriend. He later came to the station to retrieve his property.
Animals
- A resident on Carriage Way Drive called police about 9 a.m. Aug. 29 about a deer lying down near her window. An officer drove by the deer, which appeared attentive and uninjured. The officer told the resident to leave the deer be and see whether it wandered off later.
Odds and ends
- Two men walking an unleashed white poodle were seen in the parking lot of Pleasantdale Middle School, 7450 Wolf Road, about 1 p.m. Aug. 31. A school employee said the men did not have a child at the school and were not allowed on the property again. The men left in a 2004 Honda.
- Police received a complaint about 10 p.m. Aug. 29 that four youths were playing ding-dong ditch in the 11300 block of 74th Street. Police were unable to find the youths.
