EPA Air Study Approved In Willowbrook
The EPA will provide results from both the stack testing performed at the facility Sept. 20 and 21 and the ambient air testing.

WILLOWBROOK, IL – After successful meetings with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin announced the agency has agreed to perform ambient air testing at the Sterigenics facility in Willowbrook. According to the county, the agency has also agreed to set up a web page, accessible to the public, which will provide results from both the stack testing performed at the facility Sept. 20 and 21 and the ambient air testing.
“It is gratifying to know we can make an impact at the federal level on behalf of the residents of Willowbrook and DuPage County. From the very beginning, we have been calling for ambient air testing so that residents could get some assurance that the air they are breathing is safe," Cronin said in a release. "The lack of information has led to anxiety and misinformation, so it will be extremely beneficial for the public to have a trusted site to consult for scientific data they can understand. Our goal has been and continues to be, to protect the safety and health of our residents."
