Expensive Cars Stolen In Burr Ridge: Police

In at least one case, a car was stolen with little trouble, report indicates.

BURR RIDGE, IL — Two expensive cars were stolen in recent days in Burr Ridge, according to police reports. In at least one case, the key fob was inside an unlocked car.

Overnight last Wednesday, someone entered an unlocked 2017 Maserati parked in a driveway on Hunter Court, found a garage door opener and then opened the garage door, a report said. Inside the garage was an unlocked 2013 Maserati with the key fob in the center console, police said.

On Aug. 5, a 2019 BMW was stolen from a garage in the 8400 block of Arrowhead Farm Drive after suspects accessed the garage door opener in a 2019 Chevrolet in the driveway. A purse was reported stolen. The police received the report about 4 a.m.

That afternoon, the BMW owner said he used his car's app to locate it in Dolton. In response, police from that town said they were in the process of getting the car and towing it to the local police station, according to the Burr Ridge report. The owner was informed he could pick it up in Dolton when he paid the towing bill.

In 2019, 10 cars were stolen in Burr Ridge, all of which were unlocked with the key fobs inside, according to the police department.
