Federal Inquiry, Jailhouse Threats: Burr Ridge Cops
Local police are alerted that feds would conduct surveillance of "target," report says.
BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police have received calls about a State Department investigation, a dead rabbit, neighbor issues and jailhouse threats, among other things. Here is information from the latest Burr Ridge police reports:
State Department investigation
- A U.S. State Department agent informed police Aug. 14 that he and his team would conduct surveillance on a "target" in the area of 83rd Street and Shore Drive from Aug. 17 and 19. According to the State Department's website, agents investigate passport and visa fraud, among other things.

- A resident on Tomlin Circle told police Aug. 16 that she had just moved there and found a dead rabbit in the driveway. She said she was concerned that she may have been targeted for her ethnicity or her signs showing support for the military. An officer told the woman that there was an abundance of foxes and some coyotes in the area. Both are predators. The officer asked the woman to notify the police if another incident happens.
- A resident in the 7900 block of Garfield Avenue called police at 2:30 a.m. Aug. 14 to complain about a person in another unit using a treadmill and making too much noise. An officer heard no noise outside or saw any lights on in the unit in question. The resident has called police before about treadmill noises.
- Police received a loud noise complaint about 3 a.m. Aug. 15 in the 15W block of 60th Street. The homeowner in question agreed to turn off the music for the night.
- Police received loud music complaint about 11 a.m. Aug. 15 at Keller Drive and Wildwood Lane. An officer checked, but did not hear the music.
Suspicious person
- A caller told police that a woman in a green Honda asked him for money for gas about 10 a.m. Aug. 14 at Brookhaven Marketplace, 100 Burr Ridge Parkway. The caller said he gave $20, then the woman drove to another person asked again for money. Officers were unable to find the woman or the car.

- A resident on Prairie Ridge Court informed police Aug. 15 that he paid $400 to Cindy's Roofing & Masonry and the company only did a portion of the work it was hired to do. The resident said his calls weren't being answered. An officer told the resident that it was a civil matter and if he was unable to get in contact with the company, he should see an attorney. Patch left a message for comment with a receptionist at the company.
Other
- A resident on Lakeview Lane told police Aug. 15 that her son, who is in the DuPage County Jail, has received death threats directed at him and his family. She said a report has been filed with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. An officer told the woman the department could conduct extra patrols of her neighborhood.
- A resident on Ridge Farm Road informed police Aug. 15 said there was a lot of smoke in his home from their prayer offering, which set off the smoke alarm. A neighbor thought it was a burglar alarm and called the police.
