Food Drive Festivities at Pleasantdale School District 107
Pleasantdale Elementary and Pleasantdale Middle Host Food Drives
The spirit of giving is alive and well during this holiday season in Pleasantdale School District 107. Pleasantdale Middle School in Burr Ridge conducted a food drive from Oct. 24 through Nov. 4 and connected the food drive to Red Ribbon Week by encouraging students to do something positive. Coordinated by Student Council, the theme of the food drive was "Hugs, Not Drugs" as teddy bears were raffled off to students that made donations the first week of the drive in an attempt to encourage more donations. Student Council also sponsored a friendly competition between grade levels to increase participation in the food drive. At the conclusion of the drive, Pleasantdale Middle donated 1,187 items to the St. Cletus Food Pantry in La Grange.
Pleasantdale Elementary School in La Grange also conducted a food drive. Organized by the Student Council, students and staff collected non-perishable goods to help support the Greater Chicago Food Depository during the week of November 14-18. For every item donated, students were able to place a feather on the Pleasantdale turkey, Tom. In total, over 1,000 items were collected.
