Gastroenterologist Nikiya Asamoah, MD, Joins Loyola Medicine

Gastroenterologist Nikiya Asamoah, MD, who will see patients in Maywood and Burr ridge, has joined Loyola Medicine.

Gastroenterologist Nikiya Asamoah, MD, who will see patients at the Loyola Outpatient Center in Maywood and Loyola Center for Health at Burr Ridge, has joined Loyola Medicine.

Dr. Asamoah treats GI conditions such as colon cancer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including teenage IBD patients who are transitioning to adulthood.

Dr. Asamoah also provides colon cancer screenings and gastrointestinal endoscopies such as colonoscopies.

"GI problems can create huge burdens on patients' day-to-day lives and I try to be very compassionate with what they are going through," Dr. Asamoah said. "I look at each patient as an individual, rather than taking a cookie-cutter approach."

Dr. Asamoah earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. She completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Loyola University Medical Center.

Dr. Asamoah is an assistant professor in the division of gastroenterology in the department of medicine of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She is board certified in pediatrics and internal medicine and board eligible in gastroenterology
