Hinsdale, Burr Ridge Seek Water Pact
The villages want backup water supplies. Burr Ridge needs a water main through a Hinsdale park.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Hinsdale and Burr Ridge are poised to approve a pact in which each village would have backup supplies of water.
Under an agreement, the towns would spend an estimated $500,000 for a water interconnection between them. It would be along Elm Street, near 59th Street.
This would allow the villages to have access to a water supplier outside their main sources. Hinsdale gets its water through the DuPage Water Commission, while Burr Ridge is mainly supplied by Bedford Park through Chicago.

Hinsdale would foot two-thirds of the bill, while Burr Ridge would cover the rest.
Another aspect of the agreement is to give Burr Ridge a utility easement through Hinsdale's Katherine Legge Park, or KLM. That would extend 250 feet of water main to Burr Ridge's Woodview Estates neighborhood, which is east of the park.

According to a memo, Burr Ridge wants to loop its water system between King-Bruwaert House, a retirement community, and Gregford Road. This is to increase fire flow pressure in Woodview Estates, which is between the park and the tollway.
"Alternatives to this route exist, but carry additional cost with significantly less fire flow capacity realized to Burr Ridge," a Hinsdale memo said.
Burr Ridge trustees plan to vote on the agreement Monday, while their Hinsdale counterparts plan to do so a day later.
