Hinsdale Central BPA Students Bring Home One National Championship and Nine Top-10 Finishes

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 congratulates students from the Hinsdale Central High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) group for their performances at the BPA national competition in Anaheim, California. Steven Chun won first place for Extemporaneous Speech. The club also received the National Community Service Award for service efforts throughout the year. Matt Medick was also named a BPA Merit Scholar. He and Sara Watkiss were also recognized with the National Ambassador Award for their leadership efforts.

“This year was a record membership year with 107 students competing at our regional event, and from those students, 76 made it to the state competition,” said Jennifer Jaczak, business teacher and BPA adviser. “Of the 76 state competitors we had this year, 30 qualified for the national competition. Twenty-six students attended the National Leadership Conference in order to compete and attend various leadership sessions. Congratulations to the entire club for a great year both in service and in competition!”

Business Professionals of America (BPA) is a career and technical student organization for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields. BPA has 43,000 members in over 2,300 chapters in 23 states. BPA is a co-curricular organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards.
