Hinsdale Central State Champs Honored at State Capitol

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 today reported that members of all the Hinsdale Central IHSA State Championship teams went to the Illinois House of Representatives to be present for the adoption of House Resolutions 1211, 1328, 1329, 1330, 1331 and 1332. The resolutions were all sponsored by Representative Patti Bellock.

“I am honored to welcome our Hinsdale Central athletes to Springfield as we recognize them for their outstanding season,” said Rep. Patti Bellock, who represents Hinsdale. “The Red Devils have made our entire community proud. I congratulate them, their coaches and parents on their IHSA State titles. D86’s school athletics instill the values of teamwork, perseverance and individual initiative in our students.”

The students met with Rep. Bellock in her office and the group joined Illinois State Senator Chris Nybo on the floor of the House. The students were seated in the gallery to watch as the House convened and adopted the resolutions honoring their athletic achievements. After attending the session, the students enjoyed a tour of the Capitol, lunch and proceeded to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library before returning home.

“What an incredible day for our students,” remarked Superintendent Dr. Bruce Law. “I saw students engage in discussions with our state legislators and witness the Capitol at work in addition to being honored in this way. Their athletic accomplishments obviously speak for themselves but what makes me the most proud is the fact that each of our State Championship teams is also an IHSA All-State Academic Team with a B average or better. I congratulate these student athletes on all that they have achieved.”
