Hinsdale District 86 Student Groups Honor Veteran's Day

The 140-member Hinsdale South Marching Band played patriotic music in a ceremony at the Darien Community Park.

Student groups from Hinsdale Township High School District 86 yesterday honored area veterans on Veteran’s Day. Commemorative ceremonies were held at both Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South High Schools.

Hinsdale South Student Eddie Andersen plays “Taps”

At the invitation of the Darien Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2838, the 140-member Hinsdale South Marching Band played patriotic music in a ceremony at the Darien Community Park. Selections from their repertoire included “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Stars and Stripes Forever” and the “Salute to America’s Finest,” a piece that incorporates the anthems of the five branches of military service—the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.

At Hinsdale Central High School, the group DAWGs (Devils Appreciate Warrior Gratitude) hosted a presentation at the flag pole Tuesday morning. The service was open to all faculty, staff and students and honored all those who have served. Hinsdale Central Student Rachel Lewis played “Taps.”
