Hinsdale Township High School District 86 today announced that Hinsdale South High School’s Theater Department will present Arthur Miller’s classic drama “The Crucible” for its spring production. Performances will be held at the Hinsdale South auditorium beginning Thursday, March 12 through Saturday, March 14. All show times are at 7 p.m.
“I chose ‘The Crucible’ not only because it is a well-written play and but because the story is timeless and so many of our classes use this play as part of the curriculum,” said Chris Kostro, Hinsdale South English teacher and theater director. “It’s a dramatic piece about what happens when fear, mob mentality, persecution and the desire to blame takes over in a community. Although the story takes place in Puritan Massachusetts, it is a timeless tale about blame and scapegoating that still happens to this day.”

Mr. Kostro also thinks the play provides many roles for students to hone their acting chops.
“The cast is large but each role is very significant, each requires strong acting. I think it is a really good piece of theater that would give our students the opportunity to grow as artists by playing these challenging roles,” continued Mr. Kostro.
