Hinsdale South Key Club and National Honor Society Collect 20,000 lbs. of Food
'During the week, school-sponsored clubs and organizations compete in a food scavenger hunt throughout the various neighborhoods,'

The Hinsdale South High School Key Club and National Honor Society are working to collect 20,000 lbs. of food for Our Lady of Peace, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and HCS Family Services food pantries.
The food drive began Nov. 17 and ends Nov. 21. Student members of the two organizations stand outside before and after school to load goods onto a truck, as the members have done for the past 30 years, according to a D86 news release.
Key Club co-sponsors Matthew Swedko and Mallory Bauer and National Honor Society sponsors Laura Carey and Jill Vicino help organize a scavenger hunt that goes along with the food drive.

“During the week, school-sponsored clubs and organizations compete in a food scavenger hunt throughout the various neighborhoods in the District in order to collect as many donations as possible,” Bauer said in the news release. “It’s an awesome week with lots of participation throughout the school, which makes it a meaningful experience for everyone involved.”
Bauer said in the release that the food pantries are often impressed with the donations, and she asked the community to consider donating to the drive.
