Hinsdale South's Danceline Wins 6th Straight State Title

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 proudly announced today that the Hinsdale South High School Danceline won first place in the 2A kick category and first place in the 2A poms category at the Team Dance Illinois (TDI) Category Championship. This is the second consecutive year as TDI Kick Champions and the ninth State title for the team. The Hornet team also tied for the highest varsity dance score for the entire day regardless of category or school size.

The kick performance theme was biker rock and the poms theme was America. The event was held at Northern Illinois University’s Convocation Center on February 14.

“It is incredible to work with this outstanding group of 19 young ladies who have spent so much time representing their school with the utmost respect through their hard work on the dance floor and with the way the carry themselves in and out of the classroom,” said Varsity Coach Courtney Gillette. “Heather Riggs, the assistant coach, and I both are so proud to be their coaches. Looking forward, this is our third group of seniors who will graduate knowing what it’s like to be a State champion every single year of high school. We hope that this is a tradition Danceline can continue at Hinsdale South.”

In addition to the team’s success at the TDI Category Championship, on Friday, January 30, the team competed in the IHSA Dance State Series and finished 13th in the 2A dance division.
