The Journey to Mollie's War: WACs and World War II @IPPL

Wed., Oct. 28, 1 p.m. Presenter Cyndee Schaffer.

Members of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) were the first women other than nurses to serve overseas in World War II. Presenter and author Cyndee Schaffer’s mother, Mollie Weinstein Schaffer, was one of them. Drawing upon excerpts from her mother’s letters written home during the war, this presentation provides a romantic, yet frightful, glimpse into her life in uniform. Copies of Cyndee’s book, Mollie’s War, will be available for purchase following the presentation. Register for program at www.calendar.ippl.info or at 630-887-8760 ext. 240. Indian Prairie Public Library, 401 Plainfield Road, Darien, IL, www.ippl.info.
