La Grange-Area Teen In Wheelchair Gets Firm's Help

A Burr Ridge company is helping the youth get a wheelchair-accessible bathroom.

BURR RIDGE, IL – A 13-year-old boy from La Grange Highlands needs a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, and he is getting help from a Burr Ridge company and the American Legion, among others.

Caleb Kapsalis suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, according to a GoFundMe page.

On the page, Michal Wilk and Adam Adamski, owners of Burr Ridge's Maglux Construction & Restoration, said they were asked to provide an estimate for finishing the bathroom.

"After getting to know the family's story, we asked ourselves, 'How can WE help?'" the owners said on the page. "Maglux has been fortunate to build many beautiful spaces for years in our local community. This time, we are taking the opportunity to pay it forward!"

They created the GoFundMe page Aug. 1, setting a goal of $35,000. As of Friday, the company had collected $3,000.

On Friday, the owners shared good news on the page. They said they received a grant from the Home Depot Foundation in the amount of $21,5000 through the American Legion.

Maglux has teamed up with La Grange's American Legion Post 1941 for the effort to renovate the bathroom.
