BURR RIDGE, IL – Some neighbors of Burr Ridge's CNH Industrial site wanted more members of a village committee focused on the site's redevelopment to come from their subdivision.

One of the Fieldstone subdivision's leaders called the village's decision to include more Burr Ridge officials rather than neighbors on the 11-member ad hoc committee to be "very sneaky."

As of last count, four of the public members on the committee live in Fieldstone – five if one counts Plan Commission Chairman Greg Trzupek, who lives in the subdivision.

At this week's Village Board meeting, Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso acknowledged he had originally indicated he would appoint more members from Fieldstone.

"It turned out that there was a lot of interest from around the village, so I felt it was necessary to put a more balanced, if you will, geographic committee," Grasso said.

He said he may reconsider his appointment of Trzupek. That's because Trzupek would preside over Plan Commission meetings on the possible development of the CNH site, the mayor said.

Grasso said he has appointed Trustee Tony Schiappa as the ad hoc committee's chairman. Other trustees on the committee are Russell Smith and Guy Franzese.
