More 'Exposed' On Burr Ridge's County Line Road?
A resident argues for a neighbor's request for a gate and fence. Village trustees turned it down.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge trustees took a final vote Monday against a request for a driveway gate and fence for a couple on County Line Road.
But one of the couple's neighbors, Jacqueline Parrillo, made a last-ditch effort to change the Village Board's mind. She suggested the village allow gates for residents on County Line Road specifically.
"We and our children are exposed to some really serious speeding violations, which we have no control over," Parrillo told the board.

She said a new "beautiful" sidewalk also adds to that exposure. She thanked officials for the sidewalk.
But Mayor Gary Grasso said the matter has been heard several times and that the Village Board and Plan Commission have voted against it.

"We all know exactly what this is about, but it has been given the due process and consideration at the Plan Commission level and at this level," the mayor said.
The village, he said, looks at its codes each year. Next time, the rules dealing with gates and fences will be among the issues under consideration, he said.
In early 2023, Burr Ridge residents Rey and Haley Zaffar bought a nearly 30-year-old house in the 6300 block of South County Line Road for $1.3 million.
Their neighbors have gates and front yard fences. But the village only allows those things for lots that are at least 2 acres, more than the Zaffars' 1.2 acres.
At previous meetings, the Zaffars said they feared for their small children's safety. One of their children has a learning disability, they said.
At Monday's board meeting, the trustees unanimously voted to deny the gate and fence request. Trustee Joe Snyder was connected remotely, while trustees Anita Mital and Tony Schiappa were absent.
