Mysterious Whistling, Taxi Tiff: Burr Ridge Cops
Woman suspects her ex-husband may be responsible for unknown noise near her house, report says.
BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police responded to a mysterious whistling noise, a cab dispute and loud noise complaints, among other issues. Here is information from the police reports:
Dispute
- A cab driver called police shortly before 7 p.m. Sept. 28 to say a customer was refusing to pay her fare. When an officer arrived, the passenger agreed to pay after she was told why the fare from the airport was so high. The incident was in the 100 block of Oak Ridge Drive.

- A woman in the 6100 block of South County Line Road said that while feeding her horses about 10 p.m. Sept. 28, she heard a loud whistling noise several times. She was worried it may have been her ex-husband. Officers searched outside the house and heard a whistling noise, which they suspected was a bird or someone on the next block over.
Noise complaints
- Police received a loud party complaint about 10:30 p.m. on Grant Court. Officers did not find such a party, but a resident on the street had some guests over and said she would make sure they would keep the noise down.
- Police received a loud noise complaint about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 27 in the 16W100 block of 94th Street. A homeowner turned off the music.

- Nicor employees found keys in the front door lock about 3:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at a house in the 1600 block of Burr Ridge Club Drive. A neighbor and the property manager knocked, yelled inside and phoned the resident, but received no answer. When a police officer yelled inside, the resident came to the front door, saying she was fine and watching TV.
- An officer driving through a parking lot in an industrial park saw three men who appeared to be taking turns sitting on a bucket. The officer spoke with them and found they were giving each other haircuts. It was about 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at 16W601 S. Frontage Road.
Odds and ends
- At the request of a homeowner, an officer shot a sick or injured raccoon about 7 p.m. on Devon Ridge Court.
- An officer stood by about 5 p.m. Sept. 25 at a house in the 6400 block of Manor Drive as a person gathered belongings. The person was served with an order of protection.
