Neighbor Issues, Ruse Burglary: Burr Ridge Cops
A resident blames neighbor for loose dog and disappearance of stakes, report says.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Over the last couple of weeks, Burr Ridge police have handled calls involving neighbor issues, a ruse burglary, suspicious people and employee pay, among other matters. Here is information from the reports:
Neighbor issues
- A resident on Park Avenue was upset July 29 that a neighbor to the south possibly removed yard stakes that he used to divide the properties. He also mentioned that the neighbor's dog chased him on his property previously, but nothing ever was done by the police department.
- Police received a complaint about a silver Ford Escape roaming the subdivision at Garywood Drive and West Plainfield Road about 4 p.m. July 28. An officer stopped the car for a vehicle code violation. The driver said they were on their way home from Chicago after buying groceries and decided to go sightseeing in the subdivision. The officer saw groceries in the car.
- Police received a complaint about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 1 that a resident on Hamilton Avenue was burning twigs. An officer spoke with the resident, who was burning wood in an enclosed fire pit with a garden hose close by. There was no violation.
- Police responded to a loud music complaint about 10:30 p.m. Aug 3 in the 8600 block of Johnston Road. When an officer showed up, he could hear no music. A woman said her son and his friends had been on the back patio earlier, but believes they had left.

- Two men posing as village water department employees showed up at a house about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 3 in the 400 block of Kenmare Drive. They said the resident's water was tainted. When the resident became suspicious of the men, they left in a newer model Chevrolet pickup truck. Nothing was taken.
Suspicious
- A resident in the 11400 block of 73rd Place told police that a man showed up in a 2015 Volkswagen about 12:30 p.m. Aug. 3 and took pictures of his cars. The man said he was with the courts, but left before an officer's arrival.
- A youth was reported to be doing doughnuts in a parking lot about 7:30 p.m. July 31 in the parking lot at Harvester Park, 15W400 Harvester Drive. When an officer showed up, the youth said he was not doing doughnuts, but driving in the parking lot with his friends in the bed of the pickup truck. The officer said the youth's friends must be inside the truck and secured with seat belts.
- A loud, rhythmic banking was heard at 5 a.m. July 30 in the Public Storage building, 16W341 S. Frontage Road. Officers determined that M&J Paving was attempting to fill up a water truck from a broken hydrant.

- As part of a vacation watch, an officer noticed the doors to a detached garage were unsecured Aug. 3 on Shady Lane. The officer called the owner, who said he left the doors unlocked for a painter. The officer asked if the car keys were left inside the car, and the owner said yes. The owner then said he would have one of his children lock the car and bring the keys inside the house.
- An officer was flagged down about 10:30 p.m. July 28 on Village Center Drive asking for help to find a key fob that a driver said he dropped in the grass. It was later found in the car.
- Davey Tree Expert Co. was blocking the roadway about 9:30 a.m. July 29 in the 1100 block of Woodview Road. It was using a crane to rip out a large tree. The village was not aware, and there was no traffic diversion plan in place. An officer spoke to a company manager, who agreed to clear the roadway until the company could better plan for the job.
- Police were called to a dispute over an employee's pay July 31 in the 7200 block of Lakeside Circle. The employee said the boss did not have his payment for the week, and he wanted an answer on when he would get his money. The boss said he would pay the next day. The employee seemed satisfied with the answer. An officer told the two that it was a civil matter, not one requiring police assistance.
- A resident in the 6000 block of Garfield Avenue informed police Aug. 1 that she never received a mailed check from her employer, West Suburban Dermatology. It turns out the check was cashed and the endorsement was forged.
- An officer returned a stray brown dog named Buddy to its owner in the 7800 block of Drew Avenue on Aug. 1. The owner was told to keep his dog on his property.
- A resident on Park Avenue was taken to the hospital in Hinsdale after being stung by a bee Aug. 2. She reported chest pain and itching.
