Offending Turtle, Shower Dispute: Burr Ridge Cops
Police receive a complaint about a snapping turtle on a sidewalk.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge police responded to a variety of calls in recent days, including a complaint about a turtle and a dispute over whether a woman should shower at a neighbor's house. Here is information from the latest police blotter:
- Police received a complaint that a snapping turtle was on the sidewalk May 25 in the 15W400 block of Harvester Drive. "There was indeed a turtle on the sidewalk. No police service necessary," an officer said in her report.
- A woman alleged that someone else in her house in the 7300 block of Park Avenue threw soda at her about 9:30 p.m. May 25 during an argument over her wanting to take a shower at a neighbor's house because the water heater went out.
- Security at a business in the 700 block of Village Center Drive complained about children skateboarding in the parking garage May 24. An officer saw three youths sitting on the curb with a skateboard resting against the wall. The officer said he did not see any signs prohibiting skateboarding.
- The pastor of Trinity Church, 11500 German Church Road told police May 23 that he saw a man opening his mailbox and the church's. When the pastor spoke to him, the man said he was donating to the church. The man gave the pastor $40 and left in a blue Honda Odyssey that was found to be registered in Houston. The pastor said the incident was suspicious because he did not recognize the man as a member of the congregation. Police searched the area, but could not find the man. The man was described as Middle Eastern, in his 30s, heavy set, 5 feet, 9 inches, and having black and gray hair.
- A resident complained that baseball teams were practicing on the field at 15W400 Harvester Drive about 11 a.m. May 23. An officer reported he saw no more than 10 people on the fields and that they were adhering to social distancing.
- A resident in the 15W130 block of 60th Street complained about loud music at a neighbor's about 10:30 p.m. May 23. The neighbor said her daughter had some friends in the backyard and would turn down the music.
- Police received a report of two cars racing about 1:30 p.m. May 24 on Stirrup Lane, a residential street. They were estimated to be going 50 to 80 mph. The cars were gone by the time police arrived.
- A resident in the 8600 block of Johnston Road found a necklace, gold in color, in his mailbox May 24. The necklace does not belong to anyone in his house and believed it had been found near the mailbox.
- A woman and her boyfriend got into a verbal altercation about paying their dog's medical bills about 4 p.m. May 24 in the 7200 block of Elm Avenue.
- Police received a call May 24 that a group of people were having a barbecue outside the Extended Stay America motel, 15W122 S. Frontage Road. The motel's staff said the group had permission to be out there.
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 12:30 a.m. May 25 at Spring Hill Suites, 15W090 N. Frontage Road. The man said he had an argument earlier with his girlfriend and decided he no longer wanted her to stay with him in the room at Spring Hill. Both had been drinking and gave completely different accounts of their earlier argument and their relationship status. Neither one wanted to leave the room and agreed to sleep in separate beds. Police said they could find no evidence of a crime. About 4 a.m., police received a call about a domestic battery at Spring Hill. A woman reported a man pulled her hair before he left the hotel. She wanted the incident documented to get a restraining order. It was unclear from the report whether the second incident was related to the first one.
- An officer found three discarded bags of lawn clippings May 25 on the north side of South Frontage Road between 75th and Grant streets. He also discovered two tires, a plastic bin and clothing thrown on the south side of the road.
- Two officers conducted a birthday parade at 2 p.m. May 25 in the 600 block of 81st Street. "The birthday boy was happy," the police report says.
- A girl struck an uneven part of the sidewalk in the 7900 block of County Line Road about 8 p.m. May 25. She crashed on her bike. She appeared to have two broken wrists and scrapes on her elbows.
